Location
This is the third in our series of recurring Survival Training classes. This class will be held at Chavez and Beaver Brook Loop in Genessee Park, Colorado.
General Info
We hold our brother's survival class on the third Saturday of every month. In this month's class you will learn:
- How to use your GPS with your map and compass during a hike
In previous classes we have learned:
- How to use a compass
- How to read a map
- Orientation with a Map and Compass
- Navigation with a Map and Compass
- The 10 Cs of Survival
- How to make a shelter using tarp and a rapid-deploy ridgeline
- The essential knots for bushcraft and survival
- How to start a fire without a lighter or matches
- How to start and maintain a campfire
- How to maintain core body temperature in adverse conditions
- How to prepare and cook food outdoors
Important Information
- This is a day-time class. We will not stay overnight this month.
- The class will be conducted by Br. Aijaz Ansari.
We will meet at the MYPI office (8671 Wolff Ct, Suite 150, Westminster) at 9 a.m. on Saturday, October 21. From there we will carpool to the trail. We should be done with the hike by 2pm, inshaAllah. Please bring your own snacks and water. Canned food or sandwiches are fine. We'll have a stove to warm food inshaAllah. Also, please bring hiking poles, if you have any.
Cost
This month's class is FREE. You MUST REGISTER to attend, though. We need to know how many people are coming.
